Extended approach -March 2009::
Over the last years I have been working increasingly with energy as a conscious part of my both professional and private life. Even though I perceive my creative work to be beauty enhancing and – to keep it simple – “environment friendly” (see also below and “Art-Materials”), I feel it is now time to see the energetic essence of the work, materials, etc as the main focal point of my creative process.
I have by no means a full understanding of what this intention might imply or where it leads to. I am looking forward to surprising experiences / learning and insight on the way.
Foundation for my artistic work:
For me working artistically – if it is in creating the atmosphere of this place, working with a brush on an ink drawing or using the angle grinder to shape a sculpture- is always an attempt to make the beauty that surrounds and visible so that beauty is provoked by it in return.
Thus I try to embrace all that contributes to this process with love, respect and gratitude:
- Sun, wind, moon and earth that create most of the materials I am working with.
- Animals (e.g. beaver and birds) and people that give them to me.
- All those that with great ability and knowledge create the materials and tools!! that enable me to work.
- All of those that contribute with their knowledge and care enough to give constructive criticism.
The Beginning:
Despite feeling the deep longing for sculptural work since my early teens I had, being “sensible”, not allowed myself to follow my passion. It took life over 30 years, with decisions from my side that could all have been different, to get me to a point so far down that I simply could not do anything else than what I enjoyed and felt a deep calling for.
Thus I first started to work creatively again….in a tiny living room and outside at minus 17 degree celsius.
