Future-Creation Winter 2009/2010:

Winter cabbage is definitely the plant nourishing you through winter. I finally dug all of it (so I hope) out of the snow when it got buried too deeply underneath the white winter-blanket.

Others I had to throw away, like potatoes and apples… the floor of the plant-room proved itself to be so cold at around minus 20 degree temperatures, that they all froze, as well as many bottles of homemade juice, the latter
are rescued into the freezer – what a blessing that electricity is available! Conclusion: the glava (rock-wooll) needs to be protected by a layer of windresistant plates to the outside.

Yet. the corner with the corn mills works beautifully,

as well as the vegetable/baking table, that doubles up as a tea corner when guests are around,

It took me some hours of thinking how to build a sofa that can be turned into a bed – well worth while!

well worth while in minus 20 degrees…

Future-Creation Spring/Summer 2009:

A short while ago Eagle was calling above my place again – ‘time to give you all an overview’, I thought- starting with spring 2009, even though I can taste autumn every morning when I go down with steaming cup of tea to the bench in front of the ancient wall of my house. Snuggled up in a blanket it takes longer each morning for the rays of father sun to greet me through the trees on top of the mountain across the river.

This year I felt for the first time that I had little enough to do, so I could start focusing on planting my own vegetables.
I remembered to look up a chapter in Masaro Emotos (se resources) books I had come across some years ago, where he briefly discusses the use of EM (effective microorganisms).

Discussing this with a neighbour researching various aspects of ecological farming I ‘accidentally’ got to know a tiny bit about genetic manipulation of plants. What especially troubled me was the fact that many of them are not able to produce fertile seeds anymore…. What, if the local supermarket or garden center would run out of supplies?

Consequently I invited the Norwegian representative of Emiko around to talk to the local herb association about EM. By now I am producing it myself from a start culture (almost) every week and use it personally as well as for the garden, vegetables, my indoor plants and household.

In addition it assists my compost in being ready only three weeks after having filled the special bucket with food left overs. These buckets have a tap at the bottom from which the fluid can be drained daily and used as a fertilizer for plants.
As far as I have understood: in certain places in Japan EM is provided for free to the population from big tanks on the market place and the pollution of water has ceased to be a problem in those areas. You’ll find more info on: www.EMmiljo.com

I also located a good source for seeds in Sweden (www.runabergsfroer.se) which uses effective export routines to supply buyers like me from abroad.
By now (almost September with tomatoes still green and cucumbers in blossom) I know that I have to start planting seeds earlier indoors next year and: in a much lighter room than my atelier from which I carried them outside as soon as the temperature rose during the days.

Finally I dared to plant them out at last, closely watched by one of my cats.

The 2nd time he ‘jumped out of nowhere” between me and an adder, convinced me that he wasn’t following me around just for the entertainment…

A long period of hot weather without any rains followed and my plants grew little while my well was not able to give any substantial amount of water.

Needless to say: the day the truck arrived to blow free the well’s veins of stone dust it poured!
Lightning hit the mountain behind us constantly while standing with meters of steel rods in our hands to lift and lower the pump in the 80 meters deep shaft. Looks as if we had lots of protection ;-) .

Once the temperature went down enough during the nights for little bees to search shelter, I got a hive of bees put into my garden ‘on loan’. There were so many of them that we had to put on an extra floor shortly after

Not being the keenest when it comes to mowing the lawn, I had left lots of wild flowers and clover growing for them.
Vegetables started to grow (this is how lentils look like on the plant)

and I obviously shared them with others…

…and I appreciated my daily plate with salads.

The first beans could be harvested…

…and I started the ongoing process of preserving foods in various ways.

At the beginning I regretted to have left all my special jars behind in Germany some 30 years ago – by now plenty of them have materialized from hidden places and far away lands…

My Siberian wine plants – now enjoying their 4th summer on the south side of the house – have become enormous

and their grapes are a lot larger than in previous years.

Vegetables keep growing more everyday.

and ecological salads planted out produce seeds (their non-ecological equals from the local shop in contrast will rot away without fail in my experience).

At the same time we are getting closer to the completion of a room with lots of windows so future seeds will have a better chance for growing

Somehow this turned out to be a very active summer with lots of new experiences and learning – some times of rest were needed in between and mutually enjoyed

This summer has also been a summer of receiving gifts, without them nothing of the above would have come along:

I dare say: this comes pretty close to living in abundance and living in the flow! ;-)

Lets take a last stroll through the summer garden while I tell you about a way of planting I found in “The ringing cedar series” ( Anastasia Books ) by Vladimir Megre. In that way every plant will grow into your personal healing plant – with reference to other knowledge: this makes perfect sense, at least to me:

1. you have to inform the seed about your condition by putting the seed under your tongue for at least nine minutes (only use ecological seeds, the others are often treated with rat-poison for preservation!).

2. Put the seed between the palms of your hands for 30 seconds while you stand barefoot on the very earth were you will be planting it later.

3. Open your hands and blow lightly onto it to warm it with your breath.

4. Then you lift it towards the heavens for another thirty seconds, thus presenting it to the heavens.

5. After this you can plant the seed into the ground.

6. Do not water it for three days so your saliva has time to inform the seed.

7. Find out the appropriate days for planting it as advised in one of the ‘moon calendar’ (e.g. Maria Thun).

8. You’ll find further detailed in the first book of the mentioned series under “The seed as physician”.

By now I am reading the 5th book in the series – my summer treat this year. I highly recommend them to any of you – the raven is loudly agreeing from above right now!

I hope you all have had an equally intensive and rewarding summer! Many thanks to all that have contributed to it!

After a summer like this it is easy to meet the signs in the skies with strength and enthusiasm, may you feel equally optimistic and know the light beyond!

With love, until we’ll meet again, Yra

PS: Anybody interested in volunteering next year?
These glass plates have the potential of becoming a spacious greenhouse for vegetables.
